Butler PoliceToday — Police charged Charles R. Weltner, 48, of Center Township with bouncing a $225.86 check on July 12 at Hovis Auto Parts on West Jefferson Street. The check, police said, was written on a closed account. Weltner is charged with bad checks.Wednesday — Keith T. Hohman, 21 of Butler faces misdemeanor drug charges stemming from a Nov. 3 traffic stop on West Cunningham Street.A search of the car turned up a metal smoking pipe with suspected cocaine residue, a digital scale and other contraband, a police report said.Officers also found Hohman with a small bag of crack cocaine. He is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license and a lighting violation.

Butler Township Police6:30 p.m. Tuesday — Cars driven by Colleen Groth, 53, of New York and Kirsten Lolla, 29, of Chicora collided in the Butler Commons shopping plaza near the front of Valley Dairy.

State Police, New CastleWednesday — Clothing, a wallet and 10 bottles of beer were stolen in a burglary at a home on Harlansburg Road in Scott Township. The break-in happened between 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and 2:25 a.m. Wednesday.
