McCaslin 60th anniversary
John and Helen McCaslin of Renfrew will celebrate 60 years of marriage Wednesday. The couple will be honored during the upcoming meetings of the YMCAMora Club and Kiwanis Club and at Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church.
The former Helen Heist married McCaslin on June 28, 1946, at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Butler.
They have four children, Margaret Schlicter of Spring Grove; John McCaslin II of Renfrew; Rebecca McCaslin of Oaklyn, N.J.; and Mary Lou Osterman of Voorhees, N.J.
They also have 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
McCaslin retired from the YMCA after 31 years, where he served as director. He is a member of the Meridian Veterans Club, the Butler Kiwanis Club, Gideons and the United Commercial Travelers. He is also the founder and president of the YMCA, past president of the State YMCA Senior Citizens Clubs and recipient of the 2003 Good Samaritan Award. McCaslin also served as an assistant chaplain in the military, stationed in the South Pacific for three years.Mrs. McCaslin is a retired dietician supervisor for an Elmira, N.Y. hospital. She is a the past president of the Butler YMCA Mothers Club and a 2003 recipient of the Good Samaritan Award.The couple belongs to Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church where McCaslin serves as an elder, past president and secretary and Mrs. McCaslin serves as an elder and deacon and past president of the Womens Association.
