Ronald and Elaine Bowser of Butler celebrated 40 years of marriage with a vow renewal at Thorn Creek United Methodist Church in Butler, followed by a family dinner at The Butterfly House in Sarver. The celebration was a surprise from Bowser to his wife.

The former Elaine Brandt married Bowser on June 3, 1966, at Thorn Creek United Methodist Church.

They have three children, Sheila Parker of Houston, Pa., and Ron Bowser IIand Brenda Bowser, both of Butler.

They also have a grandson.

Bowser works as a machinist at Allegheny Axle and is a motor route carrier for the Butler Eagle.

Mrs. Bowser is a homemaker and also works as a motor route carrier for the Butler Eagle.

The couple is of the Protestant faith.
