Baptiste 50th anniversary
Joseph and Janice Baptiste of Butler will celebrate 50 years of marriage with an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Herman Fire Hall.
The former Janice Snyder married Baptiste on July 14, 1956, at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Herman.
They have four children, James Johnston and Ruth Baptiste, both of Butler; William Johnston of San Diego; and Andrew Baptiste of Columbus, Ohio. Another son, Thomas Baptiste, is deceased.
The couple also has three grandchildren.
Baptiste is retired from Pullman-Standard. He belongs to the Knights of Columbus and Woodmen of the World and is a volunteer with Meals on Wheels.
Mrs. Baptiste is retired from the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center. She is a member of the AARP and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
The couple belongs to St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.
