Eleanor and Bill Ekis

Bill and Eleanor Ekis of Chicora will celebrate 50 years of marriage with an open house from 2 to 5 p.m. Aug. 26 at the Chicora Fire Hall. The event will be hosted by the couple's children and is open to all friends and family.

The former Eleanor Moore married Ekis on Aug. 25, 1956, at Zion Lutheran Church in Chicora.

They have four children, Douglas Ekis of Chicora and Deborah McCune, Daniel Ekis and Darrin Ekis, all of Karns City. They also have 10 grandchildren.

Ekis retired from Armco in 1998.Mrs. Ekis retired from a full-time position as a certified nursing assistant at Chicora Medical Center, where she continues to work part time.The couple belongs to Zion Lutheran Church.
