Video captures theft of truck rims

State police are seeking two suspected burglars who made off with two dozen truck rims from a Muddy Creek Township trucking company Sunday morning.

The 24 used 22.5-inch aluminum tractor-trailer rims were taken about 6:15 a.m. from McClymonds Supply & Transit Co. on Currie Road, authorities said. The estimated loss is $12,600.

Security cameras at the business caught the crooks on video. The suspects are described as white males. Both were wearing hooded sweatshirts that partially covered their faces.

One of the burglar's sweatshirts was tan and he wore light colored pants and a black beanie hat. The other suspect wore all dark clothing

The burglars drove to McClymonds in a black Dodge Caravan, which they parked in between the trucks, Frank Zbuckvich, the company's vice president, said Tuesday.

“We caught them on the video camera kind of going the whole way around the buildings,” he said of the burglars, “trying to get into any door they could.”

The pair eventually found one and forced it open. Zbuckvich said it appeared they were only looking for the rims. And they didn't waste any time.

“Ten minutes max” is how long he guessed they were in and out.

“They just carried (the rims) and threw them right in the van,” Zbuckvich said.

The crime was discovered Monday when the business opened. Police were immediately notified and Zbuckvich put out an alert for all scrap dealers in a 100-mile radius to be on the lookout for the rims, suspects and minivan.

Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.
