Carl F. Rothen Jr.
Carl F. Rothen Jr., 62, of Chestnut Street in Emlenton died at 9:30 p.m. Sunday at the home of his daughter, Amy Kaufman, after a short illness.
Born March 14, 1942, in Bellevue, Allegheny County, he was the son of the late Carl F. and Katherine Perine Rothen.
He was a member of the 1960 graduating class of Knoch High School. He was employed for years at Orton Construction in Emlenton. He also had been a paramedic at Clarion Hospital and most recently was a rural mail carrier in Emlenton for the U.S. Postal Service.
He was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Emlenton, where he had served as an Eucharistic minister and lector and helped serve church dinners. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a founding member of the Emlenton Area Ambulance Service.
Mr. Rothen enjoyed carpentry, cooking and the outdoors. He also was a model train enthusiast.
Surviving are his wife, Mae Elser Rothen, whom he married Oct. 6, 1962, at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Cabot; two sons, Neal C. and Eric G. Rothen, both of Emlenton; two daughters, Mrs. Doug (Carla S.) Cratty of Connoquenessing and Mrs. Raymond (Amy) Kaufman of Parker; and 10 grandchildren. He also is survived by two brothers, Robert Rothen of Ridge Manor, Fla., and Fred Rothen of Bessemer; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Emlenton, with Monsignor Conrad Kraus officiating.
