Rooks 50th anniversary

Jim and Doris Rooks

Jim and Doris Rooks of Butler celebrated 50 years of marriage with a recent cruise to Alaska.

Rooks married the former Doris McDaniel on Sept. 13, 1958, at the First Baptist Church in Butler.

They have one son, Jack Rooks of Lancaster. A son, James Rooks Jr., is deceased.

They also have two grandchildren.

Rooks is retired from working 42 years at PNCBank where he was senior vice president. He is a former member of the Butler Rotary Club and the Butler Memorial Hospital Foundation Board. He was on the board of directors of the North Cemetery, the Red Cross, the Butler Chamber of Commerce and the YMCA. He is chairman of the trustees, treasurer and chairman of the building committee for First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Rooks, as a homemaker, was previously employed by the Butler School District and Mellon Bank.

The couple enjoy camping and have traveled throughout the United States and Canada. They are members of the First Baptist Church.
