Hays 90th birthday

Joseph Hays

Joseph Hays of Prospect will celebrate his 90th birthday with an open house from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at 235 N. Main St., Harrisville. Friends are invited to attend.

Hays was born Aug. 14, 1920, in Prospect. He married Eleanor Marburger on June 6, 1942, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Evans City. She is deceased.

He has three children, Sharon Pell of Franklin, Novelle Donovan of Harrisville and Joseph Hays Jr. of Houston, Texas.

He also has nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Hays retired in 1982 from Pullman Standard, where he was a production superintendent.

He is a World War II veteran of the Army Air Corps. He is a former mayor and councilman of Prospect. He was a member of the Slippery Rock School Board for 12 years.

He is past master and a 57-year member of the William H. Miller Lodge F&AM, a member of the AASR, Valley of New Castle and the American Legion.

He belongs to the Presbyterian Church of Prospect.
