The Scherders in 1951

Grace and Ralph Scherder Sr. of Butler celebrated 60 years of marriage with a family dinner at Runway Restaurant in Butler. They also are planning a trip to the Outer Banks in North Carolina with family and friends.

Scherder married the former Grace Eagen on Aug. 25, 1951, at Corpus Christi Church in East Liberty.

They have three children, Janet Hoffmann of Verona, Ralph Scherder Jr. of Butler and Joseph Scherder of Butler.

They also have six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Scherder is retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He also is a World War II veteran.

Mrs. Scherder is retired from Killarney restaurant.

The Scherders attend St. Marys in Herman.
