12:44 p.m. Friday — A pickup truck driven by Andrew A. Bartoe, 20, of Meadville, Crawford County struck a guardrail on Route 268 just south of Route 58 in Hovey Township, Armstrong County. Police said Bartoe faces a ticket for careless driving.2:27 p.m. Wednesday — Two people were hurt when a car struck a tree, went down an embankment and hit a second tree in a suspected drunken driving crash on East Slippery Rock Road just west of Sumney Lane in Donegal Township.The driver, Wendy J. McKowan, 47, of Lower Burrell, Westmoreland County, was flown by medical helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh with serious injuries. Her passenger, Thomas P. Sweeney, 71, of Tarentum, Allegheny County, was taken by ambulance to an unknown hospital with moderate injuries.Police said McKowan is suspected of driving under the influence.May 9 — An unknown burglar stole a Sony PlayStation 2 video game and accessories, and two paint ball guns worth a combined $220 from a home on Elmwood Lane in Clay Township.
10:08 a.m. Thursday — Ginny Boyd, no age given, of Grove City was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after her car traveled through a yard and struck a garage on Patterson School Road in Pine Township.June 3 — Someone drove onto the baseball fields at the Lakeview Elementary School in Sandy Lake Township. The unidentified vehicle did not damage the turf but left tracks on the wet grass. Four plastic-flex fence poles also were broken in the vandalism that occurred between 5 p.m. June 2 and 8 a.m. June 3.
6 p.m. Sunday — Danny R. Ball, 35, of Oakland Township was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after a head-on crash on Yockey Hollow Road in Sugarcreek Township. Police say Ball dropped his cell phone and reached to the floor to pick it up when his sport utility vehicle traveled into the opposing lane.The SUV collided with a car driven by Holly B. Armstrong, 56, of Butler. Armstrong was taken to ACMH in Kittanning with minor injuries.4 p.m. Sunday — Kelly Ann Pula, 43, of Kittanning was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of prescription medication on Route 28 at the Slate Lick exit in North Buffalo Township.1:27 a.m. Sunday — Nicholas J. Rupert, 20, of Ford City suffered minor injuries when he lost control of his sport utility vehicle and rolled over on Route 28 about one mile south of the Slate Lick exit in South Buffalo Township. Police said Rupert was cited for a lane violation and not wearing a seat belt.7:45 a.m. Friday — One person was hurt in a two-vehicle crash in North Buffalo Township. Amber L. Mechling, 29, of Ford City suffered minor injuries when a pickup truck struck her car at Route 128 and Glade Run Road. She was wearing a seat belt.The pickup driver, William F. Ballentine, 69, of Freeport, police said, was cited for a lane violation.
