Veteran eligibility process
Here is a link that individuals can go to online to inquire about eligibility. https://www.va.gov/health-care/eligibility/
This has all the ways in which a veteran may qualify for care including for special eligibilities.
The first step is for a veteran to fill out a 10-10EZ. They can do this by calling their local VA and requesting a form be sent to them. They can also go to the above website which has an online application process. When their application is received, it will be entered by registration staff to determine eligibility and priority group.
They will be asked to provide proof of service documentation. Either a DD214 or a Certificate of Discharge from service paper (for those before 1950) need to be provided. If they do not have their discharge papers, they will need to request them through the National Archives.
Once they are entered into the system and are determined eligible, they will be contacted to schedule an appointment. There are co-pays applicable to different priority groups. They vary and are best explained by the va.gov website.
If a veteran has questions about eligibility and would like to speak to a registration staff member, they can contact one at 878-271-6645.
