Evelyn Mae Taggart

Born in Worth Township, Aug. 15, 1911, she was the eldest of the six children born to Jack William and Ethel Morrow Taggart.
Evelyn graduated from Slippery Rock High School in 1930 and from the Butler County Hospital School of Nursing. Of her class consisting of 11 girls, only two were to go on and graduate in 1933: Evelyn and Mrs. Glenna Morgan, who remained very good friends throughout their lives. She was a member of the Butler Memorial Nursing Alumni.

Later, she worked as the company nurse for the Pullman-Standard Shell Shop and then Armco in Butler. She retired from Armco after working over 30 years as the head nurse in the infirmary.
Evelyn was a member of St. John's United Methodist of Halston and had recently been attending the Portersville Bible Church. She also belonged to the AARP and Tanglewood in Butler.
Auntie loved to knit and crochet. She had crocheted baby booties for newborns near and far. She also crocheted tablecloths and knitted Afghans for members of her family. She loved to read, use her Web TV and work on crossword puzzles. In her younger years, she enjoyed traveling and related stories of her working experiences in Florida and California. She collected invalid feeders and cups.
She delighted in visiting her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Surviving are one sister, Violet Miller of Slippery Rock (Worth Township), and a brother and sister-in-law, John and Carolyn Taggart of Columbia, Maryland. She will also be missed by her many close nieces and nephews and extended family.
