Vera G. Penman
Vera G. Penman, 81, a 53-year resident of 630 Miller Ave. in Grove City died at 6:40 p.m. Sunday at Orchard Manor, Grove City, after a five-year illness.
Born in Grove City, Jan. 14, 1924, she was the daughter of Carl E. and Ida Martin Bowden.
She was a graduate of Grove City High School and operated Penman's Beauty Salon from 1968 to 1992. She was an avid golfer and bingo player and belonged to the Wednesday AM Golf League at Shamrock Golf Course, Slippery Rock.
Mrs. Penman was a Protestant.
Surviving is her husband, Joseph C. Penman, whom she married Feb. 20, 1946, of Orchard Manor; a daughter, Lynn Snyder of Grove City; two sons, Bruce C. Penman of Batavia, N.Y., and Mark D. Penman of Herndon, Va.; and a brother, Edward Bowden of Warren, Ohio. Seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.
A sister preceded her in death.
PENMAN - Friends of Vera G. Penman, who died Sunday, July 10, 2005, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. John Culp, pastor of Tower Presbyterian Church, officiating.
