ALLISON PARK — The Mars varsity hockey team will play Quaker Valley in the PIHL Outdoor Winter Classic at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 29 at the North Park Ice Rink.

All proceeds benefit the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.

Tickets will be sold at the door for $5 and T-shirts will be sold for $15. Tickets also will be $5 at Mars High. T-shirts will be $10 there.

CASTLE SHANNON — Numerous Butler County hockey players will be involved in the PIHL All-Star Games Jan. 24 at the Ice Castle.The Open Division game is at 11 a.m., followed by the Class A game at 1 p.m., Class AA at 3 and Class AAA at 5.Playing in the Class A game from Mars are forwards Mike Mazotta and Elliot Tisdale, defenseman Tyler Whiteford and goalie Tyler Stepke.Also in Class A, Knoch forward Neal Donnelly, defenseman Nick Transue and goalie Ryan Naples will be in action, along with Freeport forwards Shane Gallagher and Neil DeCroo, and defenseman Nate King.Playing in the Class AAA game from Seneca Valley are forwards Sam Jarrett, Brandon Platt and Logan Pfeffer, and defenseman Kaleb Schwab. SV coach Denis Kirstein will be one of the all-star coaches.

MOBILE, Ala. — Dan LeFevour put on one last show, Andrew Aguila kicked five field goals, including the 37-yard game-winner in double overtime, and No. 25 Central Michigan beat Troy 44-41 in the GMAC Bowl Wednesday.LeFevour had a touchdown pass to put the sluggish Chippewas (12-2) ahead with 1:17 left and scored from 13 yards out in the first overtime on the day he moved into second place in the Football Bowl Subdivision's career total yards list.Vince Agnew blocked Michael Taylor's 31-yard field-goal attempt to start the second overtime and Central Michigan played it conservative before Aguila set a GMAC record with his fifth field goal.The Trojans (9-4) led much of the game behind DuJuan Harris' three touchdowns. But they gave up a 95-yard kickoff return to Antonio Brown, then allowed LeFevour to complete 8 of 11 passes for 90 yards before finding Bryan Anderson for a 4-yard score.
