Foxburg festival all about nature
FOXBURG — People gathered in the streets this weekend for the seventh annual Foxburg Nature Festival.
The weekend featured multiple activities, including pontoon rides, a 5K, a butterfly release, and a kayak and canoe poker run.
Kurt Crosbie, an organizer of the event, said the festival is a great way to highlight the small community.
“It’s for people who enjoy nature and the outdoors,” he said. “It goes hand in hand with what Foxburg is about. It highlights the assets of Foxburg.”
Crosbie said he expected more than 200 people to participate in the multiple events throughout Saturday and Sunday.
Crosbie said the natural resources in the area make the small community a site to see.
“We’re a tourist destination for the region,” he said.
The activities benefitted the library, the Boys and Girls Club Along the Allegheny, Skye’s Spirit Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, A-C Valley School District Scholarship Fund, Allegheny RiverStone Center for the Arts, and the Emlenton, Parker and St. Petersburg volunteer fire departments.
