Wilma Kellerman Blake
Wilma Kellerman Blake, 84, formerly of Tarentum, Natrona Heights, Warren, Cheswick and Slippery Rock, died peacefully in her sleep Sunday at St. John Specialty Care Home in Mars after several months of illness.
Born Feb. 27, 1932, in Brackenridge, Pa., she was the daughter of the late William J. and Elsie Long Kellerman.
Wilma was a graduate of Pinkerton School for Secretaries in Pittsburgh. Following graduation, she worked at ALCOA Research Laboratories as a stenographer from June 1956 to January 1961.
After her marriage to Paul E. Blake Sr. June 2, 1956, she was a homemaker until she returned to the workforce in 1975 as an executive secretary for the Diocese of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh.
She and her two sons moved to Slippery Rock, where she continued to work for the Diocese of Pittsburgh as an office manager at the Newman Center from July 1980 until July 2009, when she retired from the diocese with nearly 35 years of service.
In her spare time, Wilma was an avid sewer, lap quilter and all-around craft lover. She also was an active member of St. Peter Catholic Parish in Slippery Rock, before her hospitalization in 2014.
Wilma was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret P. Kellerman, formerly of Mount Lebanon.
She is survived by two sons, Paul E. (Patricia M.) Blake of Leesburg, Va., and Shawn M. (Mary F.) Blake of Cranberry Township; one grandson, Patrick E. Blake, 17; and one granddaughter, Nicole M. Blake, 20.
BLAKE — Friends of Wilma Kellerman Blake, who died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017, will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, 2678 Rochester Road, Cranberry Township.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Kilian Roman Catholic Church, Cranberry Township, with the Rev. Charles Bober and the Rev. Joseph Kleppner, Ph.D., presiding.
