Their high school careers are over, but Jake McAndrew and Brian Bohn aren't done playing lacrosse.

The recent Seneca Valley High graduates both will receive partial scholarships to play in college.

McAndrew, an attacker, is headed to Mercyhurst College and Bohn, a goalie, will play at Robert Morris University.

"They both have the commitment and dedication to become better players," said SV coach Peter Hoffman.

In the spring, both players helped the Raiders win a section crown and reach the state semifinals, ending the season with an overall record of 20-3.

McAndrew recently was chosen as the WPIAL Division I Player of the Year after recording more than 50 goals and 40-plus assists while leading Seneca Valley in points.

He is the second Raiders player to earn the honor. Peet Poillon was the first in 2005.

"We really didn't focus on individual awards and I wasn't expecting it," said McAndrew. "I would not have received the award if it wasn't for my teammates playing well around me."

McAndrew, who started for four years at Seneca Valley, already has a connection with Mercyhurst, a Division II school.

"My dad went there and my grandfather taught there," he said. "I wanted to go to a school that felt like home and I've been around (Mercyhurst) my whole life."

The Lakers recently finished a 13-1 season, going 9-1 in the East Coast Conference.McAndrew is ready for the challenge of men's college lacrosse."Like every other freshman, I will have to prove myself," he said. "I've never been the fastest kid, so I always had to work on my speed and footwork. That's something I will continue to do in college."Bohn, a 2010 WPIAL second-team selection, was a two-year starter for the Raiders.He will join a Colonials program that went 10-5 last season and will be a member of the Division I Northeast Conference in 2011."I know their goalie coach, Drew McMinn, and he told me what Robert Morris lacrosse is all about," said Bohn. "I should be competing for a spot right away. The goalie situation is completely up in the air."Bohn knows everything, including shots, will be faster at the next level."It's going to be different, but I play in a summer league that has college players, so I've faced some of those shots," he said. "I'll also have to command the defense through communication. That's a big part of being a goalie at the next level."<B>Notes:</B> Joining McAndrew on the WPIAL first team were SV's Joe Natoli (defense-long-stick midfield), Joe Chowansky (defense) and Will Koontz (midfield).
