1:32 a.m. Thursday — A would-be burglar tried to break into the E-Z Stop convenience store on North Main Street. The store's burglar alarm alerted police, who found a rear door had been pried but no entry had been made into the building.
9:33 p.m. Thursday — Patrick J. Kidder, 28, of Kittanning was arrested for driving under the influence at Route 422 and Heist Road in Summit Township.1 p.m. Thursday — Two Butler area men were arrested after allegedly being caught in the act of stealing 1,500 pounds of unspecified equipment for scrap in the area of 138 East Unity Road in Venango Township. Charged with theft are Dwayne Emerick, 25, and Matthew Kapp, 23.Police said the suspects were arraigned on charges and released on $1,000 bond each.Wednesday — Several hundred dollars, including $200 in donations to benefit a wounded Iraq War veteran, was stolen in a burglary at the Hometown Grill Cafe, formerly Rockers, at Kepplers Corners in Fairview Township.Police said the unknown burglar or burglars, forced open a window between midnight and 6 a.m. and took a total of $600 from the business.5 p.m. Tuesday — Mark Gutshall, 53, of Butler was hurt when he crashed his Honda scooter on Golden City Road near Waddell Lane in Jefferson Township. He was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.12:45 p.m. Monday — Acar driven by Dereck Wright, 16, and a pickup truck driven by Ryan R. Snow, 33, both of West Sunbury, collided on North Beaver Dam Road in Cherry Township.July 29 — Someone between July 26 and 29 broke into the Butler County Humane Society building in Connoquenessing Township and stole a cash box containing $50. Also stolen was a security camera outside the building and a donation jar holding $20.
Wednesday — An unknown burglar stole property valued at $705 from two cars after breaking into the garage at the Belltop Drive home of Ralph Jacques in North Buffalo Township. The burglary occurred between 7 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.
