Maurice ‘Pete’ Bish
Maurice L. “Pete” Bish, 100, of Zelienople, formerly of Middlesex Township, passed away on Monday morning, Jan. 29, 2024, at Passavant Community.
Born in Connoquenessing on July 13, 1923, he was the son of the late Carl and Ada Van Dyke Bish, and he was the last surviving member of his brothers and sisters.
Pete was a member of the former Connoquenessing United Methodist Church.
He retired as a foreman for Castle Rubber in East Butler.
Pete served his country as a medic during World War II. He was honored recently by Butler County for reaching the age of 100 years and being in the service.
He enjoyed his retirement on the family farm in Middlesex Township. He was a proud member of the Republican Party, having voted for over 70 consecutive years. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Cruikshank Bish; and his seven brothers and sisters, Bernice, Gertrude, Anna Belle, Jennings, Blair, Martha and Marjorie.
He is survived by nieces and nephews.
BISH — Friends and relatives of Maurice “Pete” Bish who died on Monday, Jan. 29, 2024, will be received from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday at A. CARL KINSEY-RONALD N. VOLZ FUNERAL HOME, 114 W. Spring St., Zelienople. Services will follow at 11 a.m.
He will be laid to rest beside his wife in White Oak Springs Church Cemetery, Renfrew.
