Nancy Kennedy Govan, 83, of Valencia, passed away Tuesday morning, Jan. 30, 2024, at St. John Specialty Care Center in Mars.

Born at home in Adams Township on Nov. 24, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Honorable H. Francis and Martha Everett Kennedy.

She attended Mars schools and then graduated in the 1958 class of Penn Township High School after her family moved there. She was active in Butler County 4-H as a youth.

She retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture in 2000.

Nancy was a lifelong member of the Mars United Presbyterian Church, where she was baptized and served as an elder and deacon. She also belonged to the Mars AARP and the Mars Women’s Club.

Her greatest pleasure in life was her family, especially watching her grandchildren playing sports, showing in 4-H, music, their education and watching them become wonderful Christians.

Surviving are her daughters, Suzanne Grove (Dan) and Christi Augustine (John); her sons, James F. Govan (Shirley) and Craig G. Govan (Michelle); her grandchildren, Faith (Greg), Nicole (Erick), D.J., Sam (Katie), Hannah (Brad), Emily, Jacob and Sara; her great-grandchildren, Emmett, Holland and Teddy; her brothers, James L. Kennedy (Rita) and H. Philip Kennedy; her sister-in-law, Judy Kennedy; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Govan, whom she married on Aug. 4, 1958, and who died on May 7, 2011; and by her brother, Harold F. Kennedy.

GOVAN — Friends of Nancy Kennedy Govan who died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at MCDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Mars United Presbyterian Church, 232 Crowe Ave., Mars. Please meet at the church.

Burial will be in West Union Cemetery, Pine Township.
