Laverne Patton, 101, of Butler, passed away at Sunnyview Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, on Monday, Jan. 8, 2024.

He was born in Butler, on Nov. 28, 1922, to the late Austin and Doris (Pfeister) Patton.

Laverne honorably served 10 years in the U.S. Navy. He was awarded the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award by the Department of Veterans Affairs in appreciation of 4,467 hours over eight years of volunteer service to veterans, which was given at the VA Medical Center.

He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Laverne was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul, Ed, Clifford, John and James; and his sisters, Mildred, Viola, Sarah and Margie.

PATTON — Arrangements for Laverne Patton, who died Monday, Jan. 8, 2024, were made through SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler. Burial will be at National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
