Josephine “Josie” Stivason, 87, of Butler passed away with her loving family at her side on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, at Sunnyview Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Born Dec. 22, 1936, in Kaylor, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Josephine Phillips Adams.

Josie was a homemaker.

She was a former member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.

She loved karaoke, dancing, cooking and — above all — raising her children.

Josie is survived by six children, Gene Stivason and his wife, Brenda, of Rimersburg, Terry Stivason of Butler, Chuck Stivason of Herman, Deborah Stivason of New Castle, Jim Stivason of Butler and Mary Stivason of Butler; one sister, Nora Eyth of Chicora; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene R. Stivason, who passed away Jan. 23, 1976; one son, Gary “Pete” Stivason, who passed away Nov. 12, 2007; eight brothers; and four sisters.

STIVASON — Friends of Josephine “Josie” Stivason, who died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 429 Center Ave., Butler.

Services and burial will be private.
