David Widenhofer

Widenhofer

David M. Widenhofer, 74, of Butler, passed away after complications with a long battle with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024. He was under the care of Hillman Cancer Center and Butler Memorial Hospital. A special thank you to Dr. Rosetti and Dr. Choksi for all of your support, care, prayers and laughter.

Born on May 26, 1949, in Butler, he was the son of the late Wilbert and Therisa (Colley) Widenhofer.

In 1970, he married his beloved Barbara (Michaud) Widenhofer, with whom he celebrated 53 years of marriage. Together they built a life with their two children, Shawn (Sharon) Widenhofer and Stacey Widenhofer (Paul Curtis). David also is survived by his brother, Scott Widenhofer; cherished grandchildren, Sarah, Seth and Spencer Widenhofer; his stepmother, Agnes Widenhofer; his uncle, Gene Widenhofer; and his beloved fur baby, Sophie.

David was a proud Marine who served his country from 1969 to 1973. “Mr. Happy” retired from PennDOT after years of plowing snow and working on the sign crew.

Dave loved camping with his wife and family at Buttercup Campground, where he made friends that lasted a lifetime. A model train enthusiast, he loved going to train shows (where Barb, Jimmy, Jeff and Uncle Gene did most of the work), riding his motorcycles, driving his Mustang and going to car shows with his friends, June and Jimmy.
