Obviously you are a concerned parent who wants to see changes in the way children are cared for in the Butler Area. I commend you for your effort. I too am a parent/teacher/childcare provider that is very involved in my child's school and pushes for change when it is needed.

My question to those who have had issues with the Dunbar Center is prior to writting and posting a web letter on this site with your warnings, did you communicate your concerns with the teachers or director of the center? Other places for answers could be the department of public welfare that oversees childcare facilities. The Dunbar Center receives funding from the United Way I believe, perhaps contacting them with your concerns. From experience one should start with the primary childcare giver and from there move up the chain. Don't stop until the situation is taken care of. Many parents are quick to complain, but lack the action behind the words.

I do not know much about the Dunbar Center. What I do know is from a family who is very happy with the services it receives. Just like most things in life, all it takes sometimes is one person or a few to bring something with good intention down. Good luck in your advocacy and please remember most caregivers are parents too and if they didn't love to be with and work with children they wouldn't be there. For most caregivers and teachers it is a calling, one that we go into knowing that salaries are not always the greatest. For me it is about seeing that little person grow into a wonderful big person and hoping that our time spent together made a difference in their lives.
