Eugene A. Nist Sr., 74, of Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot, formerly of Cranberry Township, died Saturday at the Alle-Kiski Medical Center, Natrona Heights.

Born May 21, 1935, in North Hills, he was the son of the late Aloys W. and Genevieve A. Root Nist.

Mr. Nist was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and had been an engineer for American Bridge in Ambridge, retiring in 1984.

He was a U.S Army veteran and was a member of the American Legion Post 219, Evans City.

Mr. Nist was a member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, New Sewickley Township, where he belonged to the church choir. He also enjoyed singing with the Cranberry Chorale.

He is survived by three children, Bonnie DeHart (Bill) of Evans City, Eugene A. Nist Jr. (Pat) of Economy and Deborah Halle (Bill) of Butler; a brother, Thomas A. Nist of Venice, Fla.; a sister, Elizabeth L. Timmerman of Franklin, Ky.; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte V. (Feil) Nist, on Feb. 11, 2009; a brother, Robert A. Nist Sr.; and a sister, Olive G. Argentah.

<B>NIST</B> — Friends of Eugene A. Nist Sr., who died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the <B>Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home & Cremation Services</B>, 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Township. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Roger D. Nuerge officiating.
