Shirley Shisler

Shisler

Shirley A. Shisler, 93, of Evans City, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day — and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8

Born Jan. 28, 1930, in Pittsburgh, Shirley was the daughter of the late Richard and Bessie Stiffey Parsons.

Shirley enjoyed bowling and golfing in her younger years. She liked to create and craft. She also loved birdwatching from her porch. She put her faith in God, family and her country above all else. She was affiliated with Berachah Church in Houston, Texas, where she participated in Bible study daily. Shirley was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters, Beverly Purvis of Evans City and Sue (David) Evans of Evans City; her son, Jay (Judy) Shisler of Zelienople; her grandchildren, Benjamin Purvis, Katie Purvis, Zachary (Ashley) Purvis and Jay (Wendy) Evans; and her great-grandchildren, Emily, Ian, Olivia and Gabriel Evans, and Mason, Caleb, Isaac and Kyle Purvis.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Harry E. Shisler, who passed away on March 17, 2010; her grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Michael and Abby Evans; and her siblings, Clair Parsons, Richard Parsons, Margaret “Cecil” Hufnagel, Isabelle “Bo” Foster, Betty Reedy, Jean Eberle and Gladys Parsons.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Pam, Cathy, Linda and Martha for the loving care they gave mom.
