Jay Sedwick Sr.
Jay Lloyd Sedwick Sr., 88, of Butler, passed away on Monday, Jan. 1, 2024, under the care of VNA Hospice at Newhaven Court at Clearview.
Jay was born April 10, 1935, in Kittanning, Pa., to the late Jud Lloyd Sedwick and the late Rose Marie (Blanchard) Sedwick.
Jay was a 1953 graduate of Kittanning High School, then went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering at Carnegie Mellon, graduating in 1957. In his early years, he worked for Pratt and Whitney Aircraft, first in Hartford, Conn., then in West Palm Beach, Fla. Jay also worked at Magnetics in Butler. Jay was chairman of the board of Armstrong Holdings in Butler. He was a member of Community Alliance Church.
Jay is survived by two daughters, Cyd K. Johnston and her husband, Raymond, of Butler and Joy L. Moon and her husband, Robert, of Lima, Ohio; two sons, Jay L. Sedwick Jr. and his wife, Laurie of Kennedale, Texas and Dru A. Sedwick and his wife, Trudy, of Butler; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren, a brother, Damon Dosch; a brother-in-law; one nephew, one niece and two cousins.
In addition to his parents and sister, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda L. (Kuhns) Sedwick, whom he married on May 1, 1954, and who passed away on Oct. 7, 2023.
SEDWICK — A memorial service to honor the life of Jay Lloyd Sedwick Sr., who died Monday, Jan. 1, 2024, will be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 12 at Community Alliance Church, 800 Mercer Road, Butler, with the Rev. Robert Thomas officiating. Immediately following the service, the family will gather to greet and receive friends.
A private burial will take place in Kittanning Cemetery, Kittanning, Pa.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you, for the care of both Jay and Linda, to the staff at Newhaven Court at Clearview, the staff at VNA Hospice of Butler and to caregivers Toni, Marcia, Terri and Beverly.
