Jeffrey Thomas
Jeffrey E. Thomas, 74, of Fombell, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024, at PAM Health Heritage Valley.
Born on July 1, 1949, in Bellevue, Pa., Jeff was the son of the late Ed and Donna Bergman Thomas.
He graduated from Riverside High School in 1967 and from the Community College of Beaver County in 1971 with a degree in drafting and machine design. Jeff then served in the U.S. Navy from 1971 to 1975, during the Vietnam War. He married his wife of 46 years, Janis Douglas, on Sept. 24, 1977.
Jeff retired from Caterpillar in 2014 after a thirty year career as a board draftsman, CAD draftsman, assistant project manager, CAD systems manager, CAD designer, 3D modeler and designer; all in the underground mining equipment and systems fields.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Janis Thomas, and his son, Joshua Thomas, both of Fombell.
Jeff's final comments: A special thanks to all the people who helped me, a grumpy old man, these last few years: Dr. Sheryl Simon, Dr. Chad Smith, Dr. Sharon Dawso, Dr. Reeka Pinto and all the people at the UPMC Cancer Centers in New Castle and the North Hills, the people at the Heritage Valley site in Franklin Township, those at the Butler Health site in Franklin Township and in Butler and Heritage Valley Beaver Medical Center staff for your care and understanding while having to deal with me.
