Ronald Parks, 86, of Worthington, was born on Oct. 3, 1937, in Cowanshannock Township, the son of Dwight and Helen (Henderson) Parks. Ron passed to his heavenly home on Monday, Jan. 1, 2024, with his family by his side at Quality Life Services — Sugar Creek.

He was a 1955 graduate of Elderton High School. The following day, he began a career working as a truck driver in highway construction, later progressing to heavy equipment operator and was a member of Local 66, Operating Engineers for 56 years.

He was also a member of Westminster Church (PCA) in Butler and Woodman Life.

Ron was a quiet good-natured man who had a strong work ethic, which he lovingly taught by example to his children and grandchildren.

He enjoyed mowing grass, traveling, the Pittsburgh Steelers and spending winters in Florida.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lois (Fulton) Parks, whom he married April 7, 1956; his only daughter, Laurie Klingensmith; and two sons, Ron Jr. and Eric Parks; two granddaughters, Erika (Mario) Del Rosso and Maddie, Lauren (Rick) Javens and Parker and Rowan; three grandsons, Matthew Parks, Dr. Bradley (Dr. Victoria) Parks and Emmett and Amelia, and Jerod Klingensmith. All of whom were loved extremely by Ron and all loved him extremely in return. Also surviving are one sister, Janice (Harold) Fulton; three brothers, Lynn (Marian), Vernon (Shirley) and Bernard (Vicky) Parks; and nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Alicia Klingensmith.

Ron’s family is thankful to ACMH Emergency Department and Quality Life Services — Sugar Creek for the loving care given to Ron during his short illness.

PARKS — Friends and family of Ronald Parks, who died Monday, Jan. 1, 2024, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at F. DUANE SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 119 Bear St., Worthington. Additional visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Dwight Dunn officiating. Interment at Lawn Haven will be private.
