Susan Horner
Susan Marie Horner, 72, of Parker, passed away Sunday, Dec. 31, 2023, at Sugar Creek Rest in Worthington.
She was born on Dec. 25, 1951, in Parker, the daughter of Dale and Georgia Louise “Lou” (McConnell) Horner.
Susan was a lifetime resident of the area and graduated from Karns City High School in 1969. She received a bachelor's degree in education from Clarion State College. Susan retired from Chicora Medical Center, where she had served as an activities aide for more than 21 years.
Susan was very active in the community and was a member of Martinsburg Church of Bruin and Daughters of the American Revolution; she was a former member of the Bruin Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Susan also worked on the local board of elections and served as an election judge. In the past, she loved to embroider, and her favorite hobbies included watching television and reading. Susan’s family and friends always will remember her kind heart and loving spirit.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Christopher Horner and wife, Stacy Bruno, of Beaver; granddaughters, Lauren and Alyson Horner; grandsons, Graham and Jude Lovra; brothers, Herbert “Herb” Horner and wife, Barb, of Bruin and John Horner of Parker; sister, Ruth Pickett and husband, Doug, of Evans City; a special niece who was like a daughter to her, Sandra Jackson and her husband, David, of Parker; many nieces and nephews; and her extended church family.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister-in-law, Debbie Horner.
HORNER — A memorial service for Susan Marie Horner, who died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2023, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024, at Martinsburg Church of Bruin, 128 Main St., Bruin, with the Rev. Larry Thompson officiating.
Burial will be in Concord Cemetery.
