Sandra Buccini
Sandra F. Ross Buccini, 82, of Butler, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2023, at Butler Memorial Hospital, surrounded by family.
Born April 8, 1941, in Chicora, she was the daughter of the late Samuel A. and Georgia I. (Lynch) Ross. Sandy spent her youth in Mooseheart children’s home in Illinois with her siblings, after the passing of their parents. Mooseheart is where she met her former husband, Joseph L. Buccini, who passed away July 1, 2023. Sandy was a member of Jefferson Center Presbyterian Church of Saxonburg.
She kept her mind sharp watching “Jeopardy” and other game shows and completed the crossword and Cryptoquote puzzles from the daily Butler Eagle. Sandy was a reality TV buff, especially any shows involving Alaska, where she had lived for a few years with family. She cherished all time spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and close family and friends.
She was a stay-at-home mom until her three children were in their teens, when she took a job at AVI where she retired after 20-plus years.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy and her husband, Scott Fitzpatrick, with whom she made her home; sons, Dana and his wife, Pam, of Georgia and James and his wife, Jessica, of Florida; three sisters, Maxine Becker of Texas, Bonnie Travaglio and Sharon Hames of Butler; and a brother, Tom Ross of Delaware. She is also survived by a number of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Donnie; and granddaughter, Shannon; two brothers and four sisters.
