Friday — Police charged Stephanie Fields, 19, of Butler for allegedly assaulting her 17-year-old sister during a fight early New Year's Day that left the younger sibling bruised and bloodied.The fight apparently began at a New Year's Eve party at a New Castle Street home and continued as the sisters walked back to their Kaufman Drive home.Police later were called and found the 17-year-old standing on the side of Kaufman Drive near Zeigler Avenue. The girl's nose, cheeks and mouth were swollen and bleeding, according to court documents.Fields is charged with simple assault and harassment. The 17-year-old also is accused of assault.
6:12 p.m. Monday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Travis Bachelder, 25, of Pittsburgh struck a utility pole along Bullcreek Road.4:10 p.m. Monday — Mary Brethauer, 57, of Portersville lost control of her car on snow and ice while traveling downhill on East Brady Street, went off the road and into a ditch and struck a sidewalk.10:34 p.m. Saturday — Stephen Drew, 49, of Grove City was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his pickup truck collided with a car on Route 8 near Route 422 in Bon Aire. Police said Drew drove away after the crash.State police later stopped Drew on Route 8 several miles north of the crash site. Police said in addition to DUI, Drew faces hit-and-run charges and other traffic violations.
5 a.m. Sunday — Zachary D. Angert, 23, of Summit Township was arrested for allegedly hitting his live-in girlfriend, 21-year-old Jamie Lee Hess, as they were headed home in a vehicle on Game Reserve Road near Old Route 422 in Clearfield Township.Angert was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $3,000 cash bail.Friday — Police are investigating a suspected assault at a Fenelton Road home in Clearfield Township that left an Armstrong County man hospitalized. John Aaron Wise, 34, of Ford City was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with unspecified injuries and later transferred to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.Police said a 48-year-old Fenelton man, who was not identified, is a suspect in the case being investigated as a felony assault; however, a police report noted Wise "would not provided further information" about the assault.
5:30 p.m. Sunday — Caleb Lyman Masson, 29, is accused of choking his wife, 21-year-old Heidi Masson, and throwing her out in the cold and snow without a shirt and shoes during a domestic dispute at their Barkeyville Road home in Pine Township.Police said Masson later left the home with the couple's two children.Masson was arraigned on charges of simple assault, reckless endangerment and harassment, and placed in the Mercer County Jail on $5,000 bail.
