8 a.m. Thursday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Theresa A. Cress, 45, of Butler was rear-ended by a pickup truck on Route 422 at Lasher Road in Kittanning Township. Police said Gordon M. Greenbaum, 21, of Confluence, Somerset County, the pickup driver, was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.Thursday — Truck parts worth about $1,600 were stolen from RSA Transport on Freeport Road in North Buffalo Township.6:38 p.m. Wednesday — Catherine L. Chruscik, 44, of Kittanning was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after her vehicle crashed into a guardrail on Route 422 in front of Furniture World in Manor Township.Chruscik was taken to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh with undisclosed injuries.

3:30 p.m. April 13 — An unknown would-be identity thief tried to use an Allegheny County woman's stolen credit card at a convenience store across from Premium Outlets in Springfield Township. The victim's credit card was in her purse that was stolen as she shopped at the Nike store in the outlet mall.The 39-year-old victim, as soon as she realized the purse was taken, canceled her credit cards. That move, police said, thwarted the attempted theft at the convenience store.The suspect, who was captured on store surveillance video, is described as a heavy set black female, about 5 feet, 1 inch tall. She drove off in a maroon sport utility vehicle, possibly with a New York license plate.Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-662-6162.
