Man accused of kicking officer during trespassing arrest

A Natrona Heights man was accused of kicking a police officer as he was being placed under arrest for trespassing in Buffalo Township, according to documents.

Robert P. Sawhook, 20, was charged with felony aggravated assault and misdemeanors resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and trespassing following a disturbance Dec. 16.

Buffalo Township police said they were dispatched to a residence for a report of an aggressive man, later identified as Sawhook. According to police, Sawhook shouted at the officer and acted aggressively toward the homeowners.

The homeowners indicated at the time they did not want to press charges, documents showed, but asked police to return when Sawhook refused to leave the property.

Police informed Sawhook he was to leave the property or be arrested, and Sawhook refused. Documents showed he resisted when being taken into custody, pushing officers.

Sawhook was taken to the ground and handcuffed while continuing to resist as officers attempted to place him in a patrol vehicle, police said.

Once in the vehicle, police said, Sawhook kicked an officer multiple times in the legs and groin area, preventing him from closing the door. Another officer restrained Sawhook in order to close the vehicle door, documents showed.

Sawhook was placed in Butler County Prison in lieu of $15,000 bail.
