MONROEVILLE — An autopsy is set on a man who was fatally shot leaving a home about 10 miles east of Pittsburgh after he reportedly shot at a police officer.
The Allegheny County medical examiner’s office says the dead man is 26-year-old Paul Slimick of South Buffalo Township, Armstrong County, which is outside of Freeport.

County homicide Lt. Andrew Schurman said the shooting occurred about 10 p.m. Monday when the officer responded to a report of a burglary in progress.
Schurman said the officer ordered Slimick to stop, but he fired at the officer instead. The officer returned fire wounding Slimick, who died about 10:45 p.m. at Forbes Regional Hospital in Monroeville.
According to the medical examiner’s office, Slimick died of a gunshot wound to his head.
