Mary Lou Thompson
Mary Lou Thompson, 68, of Karns City, sadly passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Dec. 11, 2023, at her home.
Born on Aug. 29, 1955, in Butler, Mary Lou was the daughter of Carolyn Allen and the late James Allen.
Mary Lou was a 1974 graduate of Butler High School. She retired after 33 years of service to the residents of Sunnyview Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, to spend more time with her family. Mary Lou was also an active member of the Rider Lutheran Church in West Sunbury.
Mary Lou was exceptionally selfless, and her boundless love affected everyone she knew. She did the utmost to help and care for her family and friends. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, who loved her dearly. Mary Lou was always there when you needed help or just to say “Hi,” providing groceries, delicious meals, transportation, her famous homemade cookies and candies, and her beautiful smiles.
Mary Lou is survived by her mother, Carolyn Allen of Butler; brother, Robert Allen of Slippery Rock; two daughters, Jennifer (Jason) Long of Tennessee and Lauren (Stephen) Galloway of Renfrew; two stepdaughters, Kathy Smith of Indiana, Pa., and Krissy (Jeremy) Alm of Iowa; and three grandchildren, Madison, Isabelle and Graham.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Denny Thompson; and her brother, Dennis Allen.
THOMPSON — Visitation for Mary Lou Thompson, who died Monday, Dec. 11, 2023, will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at WILLIAM F. YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 132 Main St., West Sunbury. Funeral services will follow visitation at 4 p.m. at the funeral home with lay worship leader, Diane Petrak, of Rider Lutheran Church, officiating.
Mary Lou will be laid to rest at 11 a.m. Monday beside her husband at West Sunbury Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the funeral home for funeral expenses.
