Man accused of burglary, biting woman

A man was accused of burglarizing a Butler apartment and assaulting a resident, according to charges filed by city police Wednesday, Dec. 7.

Zachary T. Bayless, 30, was charged with felony burglary and misdemeanor simple assault, after a woman said she awoke Tuesday to find him in her home on South Monroe Street.

Police said the woman reported waking up around 3 or 4 a.m. to find Bayless standing in her room, looking at her cellphone. According to documents, Bayless then bit the woman on the forehead, picked her up and slammed her to the ground.

Police said they noticed a bruise on the woman’s forehead when they interviewed her.

Bayless was placed in Butler County Prison in lieu of $15,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled Dec. 18 before District Judge William Fullerton.
