Police make spooky discovery during traffic stop
A Wexford man and an Avalon woman are accused of being in possession of several stolen masks from a Spirit Halloween store, according to charges filed by the Middlesex Township Police Department.
Chelsea Ann Nuss, 29, was charged Wednesday, Oct. 21, with misdemeanor counts of receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled substance and use of drug paraphernalia. David James Bilicic, 49, was charged the same day with misdemeanor receiving stolen property.
Police said a traffic stop was conducted involving the two Oct. 5. Police said the driver’s license was suspended and both occupants were requested to exit the vehicle. Police requested a tow for the vehicle. Before the truck arrived, Bilicic opened the trunk of the vehicle, where police saw several Halloween masks with tags still on.
The masks included six Michael Myers masks, a Scream mask, five foam clown masks, a killer clown mask, an Art the Clown mask, a Saw mask, a Smiley mask, a Freddy Krueger mask and three alien masks. The two also had a Carhart hoodie, a Black Bison hoodie, seven pairs of Nike pants and a pair of Carhart pants.
According to the police, the two claimed they purchased the masks and clothes in bulk for $200 from a man in Brighton Heights. The total value of the merchandise was about $1,112.
Police also said officers found the two had a crack pipe, a $1 bill with white residue on it, 32 empty stamp bags and two cutters inside the vehicle.
Preliminary hearings for the two are scheduled for 2:15 p.m. Nov. 24 before District Judge Jack D. Ripper.
