9 p.m. Sunday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Allen Stack, 63, of Buffalo Township hit a bridge abutment while rounding a bend on Route 8 South.2:29 p.m. Friday — William Van Kirk, 28, faces a drug-related charge after he suffered an apparent heroin overdose at his North McKean Street home.Police were called and found Van Kirk lying unconscious on the bathroom floor. At least two empty bags of suspected heroin and a used syringe were nearby.Paramedics revived VanKirk, who was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital. He was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.Friday — An unknown vehicle, possibly a maroon or red Chevy with damage to the passenger side front end, struck three parked vehicles on Whippo Avenue and drove off after the crash.The hit-and-run vehicle, eastbound on Whippo Avenue, first hit a sport utility vehicle, owned by Ann Osterling of Butler, on the driver's side. The vehicle then hit the rear of a car owned by Daryl Doss of Butler.The crash forced the car into the rear of another car owned by Doss. Police said the hit-and-run vehicle also struck the rear of Doss' same second car.The victims discovered the damage to their vehicles Friday morning, but police do not know when the crash happened. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-287-7743.3:05 p.m. Nov. 8 — Thomas Smith, 20, of Butler was hurt when he ran into traffic and was hit by a car on Hansen Avenue. Police said the car, driven by Alayna Cotton, 17, of Summit Township, was just beginning to pull forward after being stopped for a red light. Smith was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.
5 p.m. Friday — A car driven by Richard L. Michael, 57, of West Sunbury crashed into a utility pole along South Benbrook Road in Center Township. Police said Michael was cited for a lane violation.7:30 a.m. Friday — A car driven by Evan Gorse, 16, of Butler sideswiped a bridge abutment before skidding on slush and hitting an embankment, large rock and traffic sign along Dinnerbell Road near Golden City Road in Jefferson Township.12:44 a.m. Friday — A pickup truck driven by Jesse Roudebush, 22, of Parker hit a utility pole and tree after sliding off snow-covered Annisville Road in Parker Township.11:07 p.m. Thursday — A car driven by Ricky L. Donaldson Jr., no age given, of Slippery Rock struck a tree along snow-covered South Benbrook Road in Center Township.10:35 p.m. Thursday — A car driven by Marie M. Highland 21, of Petrolia struck a guardrail on Route 58 in Concord Township. The car spun around and hit a sport utility vehicle driven by Laird W. Snyder III, 18, of Renfrew.Police said Highland, who was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital for minor injuries, was cited for driving too fast for conditions.Tuesday — Several tool boxes with assorted tools were stolen in a burglary between 5 p.m. Dec. 8 and 6 a.m. Tuesday from the Halston Road home of William Dunn in ClayTownship.
1:55 p.m. Friday — A car driven by Steven F. Alexander, 50, of Fenelton hit a deer on Route 28 in South Buffalo Township.
7:27 a.m. Sunday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Michael Carruthers, 21, of Ramsey, Ill., hit a deer on North Liberty Road in Liberty Township.6:05 p.m. Saturday — Elva Hanby, 54, of Grove City was hurt when she swerved her minivan to avoid a deer and struck an embankment on Route 58 in Pine Township. Hanby was treated at Grove City Medical Center for minor injuries.1:10 p.m. Saturday — An SUV driven by Joshua A. Moore, 26, of Volant and a pickup truck driven by Ronald L. Hogue, 63, of Oil City, Venango County, collided on Route 208 in Springfield Township.Two passengers in the SUV, Jessica Kent, 31, and Sydney Kent, 7, both of Mercer, suffered minor injuries. Police said Moore was cited for a left turn violation.5 a.m. Saturday — A car driven by Jeremiah L. Uber, 26, of Mercer struck a driveway culvert and rolled over on Route 19 in Springfield Township. The car struck a mailbox after overturning.Police said Uber, who suffered minor injuries, was cited for driving too fast for conditions, driving with a suspended license and not wearing a seat belt.Thursday — Police filed theft and fraud charges against a Grove City woman accused of failing to pay for a stay at the Comfort Inn in Springfield Township.Julia Oakes, 48, first did not pay for $884.50, which represented a portion of her bill for a month's stay at the motel between Sept. 4 and Oct. 10, according to a police report. Police said Oakes later paid the bill with someone else's credit card, allegedly without that person's knowledge.Oakes is charged with theft of services, access device fraud and theft by deception.Thursday — Police filed a theft charge against Michaela Patterson, 34, of Grove City for allegedly stealing a $360 money order at the Sheetz store in Pine Township. Patterson worked at the business when she allegedly took and used the money order Nov. 17.
Saturday — Police are investigating the attempted theft of two all-terrain vehicles from a pair of homes in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County.Both incidents apparently happened overnight, and police did not say if they believe they are related.In one case, the would-be thief or thieves pushed a Yamaha Big Bear ATV across the road from the owner's Stoner Drive home and tried to start the vehicle. The unknown suspect or suspects left the vehicle there when it would not start.In the second case, a Suzuki ATV was pushed from the driveway of a Young Road home; it, too, was abandoned when the thief or thieves tried but failed to get it running.
