Carol Israel
Carol (Mahood) Israel, 65, of Butler, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023, at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 6, 1958, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late James P. “Rex” Mahood and the late Caroline (Milliron) Mahood.
Carol was a 1976 graduate of Butler High School, and then went on to attend Butler County Community College where she earned her LPN. She worked as an LPN and caregiver for Sunnyview Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for 17 years, and later owned Hillside from 1995 to 2005.
Carol was a longtime member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Butler where she proudly served as an elder and deacon. She was devoted to volunteering and serving others, whether it was with the Area Agency on Aging as an ombudsman, a patient advocate, or with St. Andrews Presbyterian Church community dinners.
Carol is survived by two sisters, Susan (Bob Barone) Mahood of Pittsburgh and Cynthia “Cindy” (Dean) Collins of Franklin; her brother, James “Jim” Mahood of Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
ISRAEL — Family and friends of Carol (Mahood) Israel, who died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023, are invited to attend a memorial service to celebrate Carol’s life at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023, at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Jefferson St., Butler, with Pastor Merry Meloy officiating.
Arrangements were entrusted to THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler.
