11:47 p.m. Wednesday — Lee R. Hockenberry of Center Township was arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, Holly M. Bailey, 25, of Center Township, on Mercer Street in front of Stanley's Bakery.Police said Hockenberry was arraigned on charges of simple assault, harassment and public drunkenness, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $3,000 bail.Wednesday — Vincent Alan Evans, 40, of Butler was charged with driving under the influence, stemming from a July 18 traffic stop at Mercer and Brady streets. Police also cited Evans for not stopping at a flashing red light and careless driving.2:14 a.m. Tuesday — Joelle J. Lees, 26, of Butler was arrested for allegedly violating a protection from abuse order after she went to her ex-boyfriend's West Pearl Street apartment. Police said Lees was arraigned on a charge of criminal contempt and placed in the Butler County Prison on $1,000 bail.Tuesday — Police said they charged Gerald Mann, 34, of Chicora for allegedly bouncing a check for $132.31 on June 24 at NAPA Auto Parts on West Jefferson Street. The check was written on an account with insufficient funds, a police report said.8:47 p.m. Monday — Christopher Lance Ray, 35, was arrested for allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Lisa Preston, 40, of Chicora, at his West Penn Street apartment. Ray was arraigned on a charge of simple assault and placed in the Butler County Prison on $1,000 bail.State Police, ButlerWednesday — Two orange and silver Stihl chainsaws were stolen between Saturday and Wednesday at a home in the 200 block of Election House Road in Franklin Township. One saw is 14 inches and the other is 18 inches long. Two red gas cans and a three-piece ATD spray gun kit also were stolen.4:36 p.m. Saturday — A car driven by James B. Marable, 24, of Penn Hills, Allegheny County, struck the rear of another car on North Main Street Extension near the Clearview Mall in Center Township. James Trinkley, 44, of Butler, a passenger in the other car driven by Johnathan Trinkley, 19, of Butler, was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital for a minor injury.Marable, police said, was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.Aug. 1 — Someone broke into 126 Kirk Road in Muddy Creek Township. A police news release provided no other information, including if anything was taken.July 29 — A would-be burglar tried to break into a home in the 200 block of Pflugh Road home in Franklin Township. A rear screen window was cut open but no entry was made.Police said a newer, black Dodge four-door car was seen in the area several times before the attempted burglary. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.
8:09 p.m. Tuesday — Sheldon Andrew Gathers, 27, of Rimersburg was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance on Route 28 in Frazer Township, Allegheny County.
