ADAMS TWP — A proposed restaurant and bar got another step closer to construction Monday when the supervisors approved the transfer of a liquor license for the business.

The restaurant would be called the Double Wide Grill and would be run by KZ Management, a company that owns the same establishment on Pittsburgh's South Side. The restaurant would be located at 100 Adams Ridge Blvd. in the Shoppes at Adams Ridge complex off Route 228 near the McGinnis Sisters and Walgreens stores.

The supervisors approved the transfer of a liquor license from the Checkered Flag Lounge on North Monroe Street in Butler. The transfer of that liquor license now must be approved by the state's Liquor Control Board, a process that could take several weeks.

Gary Peaco, code enforcement officer for the township, said the proposed Double Wide Grill would occupy more than 6,600 square feet on the last parcel of land available in the Shoppes at Adams Ridge complex. The business would feature an outdoor seating area for customers and would also have enough parking spaces for about 90 people.

Peaco said representatives with KZ Management want to start construction as soon as possible. Calls to that business were not returned Tuesday.
