Children's festival spans the globe

“Origami Tales” by Kuniko Theater of Japan/USA is one of the shows featured during the Pittsburgh International Children's Festival through Sunday.

PITTSBURGH — The 26th annual Pittsburgh International Children’s Festival runs through Sunday at the University of Pittsburgh theaters and at Schenley Plaza.

Programming showcases international and local theater premieres, including a brand new interactive luminarium installation on the festival grounds.

Featured, ticketed performances are by these artists:

• World of Rhythm, percussion by Drums United from the Netherlands

Dudes, music, dance, puppetry and comedy by Beumer and Drost from the Netherlands

• Plop! a tale of bravery for young audiences by the Windmill Theatre of South Adelaide, Australia

• Mirazozo, a labyrinth of light and color by Architects of Air fro, Nottingham, UK

• Cinderella by Shona Reppe Puppets from Scotland

• Origami Tales using paper, music and audience participation by Kuniko Theater, Japan/USA.

In addition, the festival will include free hands-on activities as well as performances at the free outdoor Community Stage in Schenley Plaza. Free outdoor activities and performances are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
