First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., will have a Thanksgiving eve service today at 7:30 p.m.

Director Harry Cunnigham will lead the presentation of “The Messiah” at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church in New Castle.

The worship and music committee of Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St., will meet at 11 a.m. Friday to prepare the sanctuary for the coming liturgical season.
In the News Bible study will meet for the last time at 9 a.m. Sunday.
Members will mark the beginning of the Advent season with a luncheon after the worship service Sunday.
Members will have a 5:30 p.m. dinner and 6:30 p.m. Bible study Wednesdays in Advent.

Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St., will celebrate the first Sunday of Advent by lighting the Advent wreath.
The chancel choir will rehearse at 9 a.m. Sunday and sing during the worship service.

The Presbyterian Women are collecting new and gently worn mittens and gloves, hats and scarves, jackets and sweaters and socks for the Keep Me Warm trees.

The first Sunday of Advent will be celebrated at Sunday services at Mars United Presbyterian Church, 232 Crowe Ave., Mars, with the presentation of “Candles and Carols.”
The Reading Martians will meet at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the board room.
MERIDIAN UNITED PRESBYTERIAN
Meridian United Presbyterian Church, 4150 Highland Ave., will host its annual community Christmas dinner at 5 p.m. Dec. 4 in McCaslin Hall. A Christmas program will follow in the sanctuary. Deacons will provide the main dish and refreshments. Take 12 servings of a covered dish, salad or dessert to share. To attend, sign up in the library.
The Sarah Elizabeth Circle will meet at 1 p.m. Dec. 1.

Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars, will have a fellowship dinner after worship Sunday. Take a covered dish to share.

St. John’s Lutheran Church of Connoquenessing, 100 Main St., will host the community Thanksgiving eve service today at 7 p.m. The Rev. Bonnie Rupp will give the Thanksgiving message.
The start of Advent will be celebrated at the Sunday worship service. There will be a short congregation meeting after the service.
