Man accused of brandishing gun, DUI in Chicora

An East Brady man was accused of brandishing a rifle multiple times while driving under the influence in Chicora, according to charges filed Tuesday, Oct. 3.

State police charged Damion A. Tatters, 24, with felony aggravated assault, misdemeanors DUI, simple assault, terroristic threats and disorderly conduct and summary careless driving following an incident Monday night.

Around 6:43 p.m., police received reports of a man, later identified as Tatters, parking a white sedan on East Slippery Rock Street in Chicora. A witness told police Tatters “pulled a rifle out of his vehicle and began to swing it around his body.”

Another witness contacted police about Tatters, saying she saw him driving north on South Main Street in the borough. As she passed him in her vehicle, Tatters pointed a rifle at her from his car window, police said.

State police initiated a traffic stop on Tatters around 8 p.m. on West Slippery Rock Street and took him into custody. Police said a British .303 caliber rifle was located inside the vehicle, and Tatters appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance.

Tatters later told police he fired off a round from his rifle at a graveyard near Chicora.

Tatters was subject to a blood draw following the incident, and results are pending.

Tatters was placed in Butler County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail. His preliminary hearing before District Judge Lewis Stoughton is scheduled Tuesday.
