Rassman Sr.

Joseph Rassman Sr., 87, of Butler passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2023.

He was born in Butler on Dec. 23, 1935, and was the son to the late Robert and Edna (Ladebue) Rassman.

Joseph was a 1955 graduate of Butler Senior High School. After graduation, he honorably served his country aboard the USS FDR in the U.S. Navy. Joseph then worked for Robinson Industries in Zelienople as a floor supervisor. He was a member of the Meridian Veterans Club and Boyers Sportsmen’s Club. Joseph loved spending time outdoors where he could fish, hunt, hike and farm. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially on vacations and camping trips. He was a kind, caring and giving man who loved to work and never hesitated to help those around him. He was loved by all who knew him and will be forever missed.

Joseph was the beloved husband of Jeanne (Fry) Rassman and the father of Joseph (Madge) Rassman Jr., Sheri (Greg) Lopuchovsky and Alyssa (Parames) Lawson. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Ryan (Belinda) Hoellein, Amara Hollein, Alysa Hollein, Breanna Mesko, Bryan (Heather) Byers, Nadia Lawson, Brock Lopuchovsky, Bailey Lopuchovsky and Morgan (Javier) Erasmus; his great-grandchildren, McKinley and Ryan Hoellein, Jaxon Mondine, Bayne and Bryson Byers and Glen, Brianna and Davon Hamilton; as well as many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Along with his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his siblings, John, Robert and Richard Rassman, Betty Arbogast, Mary Magness, Edna Nastasi and Janice Hicks.

RASSMAN — Family and friends of Joseph Rassman Sr., who died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2023, are welcome to attend a memorial service for Joseph at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, 2023, at Meridian Veterans Hall.

Joe will receive full military honors at 2 p.m. in the hall.

Arrangements were made through SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations be made to Meridian Veterans Club or HIS Kids Christian School.
