George Wilker Jr.

George F. “Cookie” Wilker Jr., 84, of Slippery Rock, passed away Sunday, Sept. 24, 2023, at his home.

Born on Sept. 21, 1939, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late George F. Wilker Sr. and the late Rosa E. Morford Wilker.

Cookie was a member of the Moose Lodge in Butler. He retired from Slippery Rock University as a painter after a career of more than 30 years, and he was a lifelong farmer in Brady Township.

George is survived by his cousin, Mary Kennedy, who was his caregiver and was like a sister; one sister, Mary Ann Cook of Pittsburgh; a nephew and nieces, Eric, Colleen and Holly; great-nieces and a great-nephew: Makayla, Scarlett and Colton; and several cousins.

George’s family would like to acknowledge Mrs. Sarah Claypool for the care she provided for George in his home for almost two years.

He was preceded in death by one brother.

WILKER — Family and friends of George F. “Cookie” Wilker Jr., who died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2023, will be received for visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at WILLIAM F. YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 132 Main St., West Sunbury. A service of remembrance will be held at 7 p.m. at the funeral home, where stories of Cookie may be shared.

Private burial will be held in Plum Creek Cemetery, Pittsburgh.
