Pakutz

Nick "Windy" Pakutz, 83, of Lyndora died unexpectedly Sunday at his home.

He was a lifelong resident of Lyndora, where he was born Jan. 1, 1924, to John Sr. and Tillie Hollup Pakutz.

He had been a welder at the Pullman Standard Car Manufacturing Co. for 35 years and retired in February 1982 when the plant closed.

Mr. Pakutz had been a well-known fast-pitch softball player in the Butler area during his younger years. He participated in the Butler County Horseshoe League for years and was honored to be made a member of the Butler County Horseshoe Hall of Fame.

He was a member of the St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church in Lyndora and the Lyndora American Legion Post 778.

He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving are two sons, Jeffrey Pakutz and his wife, Lorri, and Greg Pakutz, all of Butler; two daughters, Denise Peace, and her husband, Louis, of Apollo and Nikki Perri of Oregon; eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

As the last surviving member of his immediate family, he was preceded in death by five brothers.

<B>PAKUTZ</B> — Friends of Nick "Windy" Pakutz, who died Sunday, April April 8, 2007, will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. A funeral liturgy will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church, 610 Hansen Ave., Lyndora, with the Rev Douglas Lorence officiating.
