Buzas

Andrew Buzas, 82, of 102 Elizabeth Drive died Thursday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

He was born Nov. 8, 1925, a son of Gabriel and Ester Wasko Buzas.

He worked in melt shop maintenance and continuous casting maintenance at Butler Armco. He was the maintenance parts manager for the last 15 years of his career. He retired in 1983 after 41 years.

Mr. Buzas was proud to be a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of VFW Post 249 in Butler and American Legion Post 778 in Lyndora.

He was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora.

Andy was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening. He also liked repairing his cars.

His wife, Julia Sherba Buzas, who he married June 18, 1949, survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Elaine M. Ellefson of Encinitas, Calif., and Cynthia L. Buzas and her husband, Thom Somes, of Carlsbad, Calif; two sons, Andrew J. and Michael J. Buzas, both of Butler; two brothers, Ernest Buzas of Erie and Edward Buzas of Whispering Pines, N.C.; three sisters, Mrs. Leona Eaton of eastern Pennsylvania, and Mrs. Larry (Eleanor) Broderick and Mrs. Elsie Nevel, both of Butler; and two grandchildren, Michael Andrew Ellefson and Parker Riley Somes, both of California. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive him.

Mr. Buzas was one of 12 children and was preceded in death by five brothers and a baby sister.

<B>BUZAS</B> — Friends of Andrew Buzas, who died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>GEIBELFUNERALHOME</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. Parastas services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora with Abbot Leo M. Schlosser, pastor, officiating.
